Default Brake Question

Just test drove an 08 TC this weekend. Everything looks great. I did have a question about the brakes though. During the test drive, when coming to a stop, the brakes were not quick to stop as what I'm used to in my other cars or other cars I've driven. The sales person said they have great brakes and that it might need to be broken in.

Is this a known issue or just something that happened on this particular car I drove.

Thanks.

I've got an 06. It took about a week for my brakes to fully settle. Haven't had any complaints since.

Scion may have decided to use a different vendor for the brake pads. It may very well be a brake-in period. The tC has very good brakes. In fact, switch to some aggressive pads and they are outstanding Not full on race mind you.

Oh yeah, I moved this thread to the correct category.

You can also try cross-drilled/slotted rotors from RotorPros. I have them and they work excellent on the OEM pads. Change the fluid and install Stainless Steel brake lines.

Its probibally the fact that the tC has horrible brake pedal feel. But your stopping better than you think. Just the pedal isnt giving you the feedback like youd expect.

Also Toyota put on adaptive braking sensors so if you up your rotor size, you dont have to worry about adjusting the pressure. Computer will do it for you (one piece of SCC information that was actually usefull)

All part of the EBFD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution).

EBFD basically is like a limited slip; not for acceleration, but for braking. It uses differential braking to keep the car from going into an over-braking induced skid.

i wonder if there is a way to use the computer to change the balancing system. like to more balanced instead of a front wheel bias
