well i don't want to spend the thousand bucks (or more) on coil overs and all, so iwas just thinking of getting lowering shocks that will improve my performance, but I also heard that slamming your car would hurt the handling aspect of the car

go with hotchkis... get the whole set as well - springs, rear sway bars, and camber links. highly recommended. here's a link to check it out...
Sparks Toyota have the dealer install them and align to trd specs. you should get a warranty (ask them first to be sure tho). all for less than the price of coils!

I just installed Tein H-Techs last weekend. I LOVE THEM. They gave me the perfect drop, a much better ride, and improved my handling a crap load. I highly suggest them. They were $180 at TRDsparks.com. You can probably find them cheaper, but i trust that website.
