Default Which springs are the best to get?

Does anyone recommend any particular type of springs to get? I'm looking for a 2-2.5" drop with a good spring rate. Tien? Tanabe? H&R?

wow 2" drop? do you plan on having a body kit?

with the body kit it's already lowered. The most I would do is probably 1.5"

Unless where you live are all flat roads then that's a different story.

I have problems going to mini stores or plaza's around here because the

parking lot goes upward.

To answer your question, Tien or TRD would be best for tC.

Thumbs up Thanks

Hey Leon,
Thanks alot! I really appreciate your response. I'm not going to get a body kit yet. Right now I just have the stock one. I just wanna drop my car enough to cut the gap in half. So I'm thinking about 1.5" to 2". I checkd your car out and that is a frickin sick paint job! Dude how long did that take to paint? How much is something like that?

What's your goals with your car? Daily driver, track car, or show car? Generally the lower you go, the stiffer the spring and the harsher the ride.

Hotchkis is under warranty to if the Dealer installs. Hotchkis is a lil lower and a bit more refined. For 2"-2.5" you should seriously think about going with adjustable coilovers

I personally can't stand lowering springs. Just save you money and buy a GOOD set of coil-overs. You'll enjoy the ride better and have the adjust-ability and beefed up shocks of the coil-overs.

One word to add on "adjustable" coil-overs......You have to adjust them properly. Most have more than just ride-height adjustment. Improper settings could net you a bad ride and extra wear on your tires. Take it to a competent speed shop for proper setup.

I bought my Hotchkis strut bar and TVS from the Dealer as a Scion option. Just call your dealer and ask. You can do the work yourself or have a shop install for you. The dealership just needs to do the alignment as they have the TRD specs that you need to be adjusted to.

he does have 18's if that makes a difference.

Yes, he does have 18's on there, and after a couple months your springs might settle a little bit.

I just can't seem to understand the sense in dropping your car below 2.0inches. Especially with 18's.

I guess I'm just a traditionalist tuner. Only point of springs is to lower your car. If you're looking for performance gains, full coil over kits = the way to go.

I just hate being lowered, on bigger wheels, taking a corner hard, and encountering rebound or rubbing because the spring rates aren't stiff enough.

But that's just me.

i see your point Soulbane. i argue with a friend of mine who wants his civic "Slammed" with just springs. i think it's just for "the look" tho. I'm all for "the look", but not slammed where you can't even see the tire and you gotta start cuttin the wheel well! a finger or two gap is good enough for me!

i think yanki01's drop with the hotchkis (near the top of the page) is as far as i'd go with it!
