someone please correct me if i am wrong but doesn't the V-tech have to do with the actual angle of the pistons and how they are positioned, not there power? So as far as i know there isn't a way to tweak the Tc engine to make it a v-tech.... I mean maybe he's Magneto in disguise or something, but other then that i don't see how it could be done.

as far as i know you are correct. Like i said, its simply and "Improvised" v-tech. basically i will allow more air into the engine hence allowing more combustion hence more power. its not perfect and chances are it won't work, but i want to give it a shot.

Well it sounds like a cold air intake would be just enough... I wouldn't want to tune the engine if I can just add on something. Or go all out and go turbo

first off.. vtech is an electronics company that makes electronics such as phones and toy computers like the one pictured above..
    VTech

V-TEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is a HONDA valvetrain system that switches between two camshaft profiles... selected after a certain RPM..
    thus the:

remember.. there are two completely separate cam lobes..

Toyota on the other hand.. uses VVT-I
(Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence).. we got ONE set of lobes, and the ECU adjusts the timing over the RPM band..

you want V-TEC, get a damn Honda.
    LEDs.... yay!

You should do a 2AR-FE (Bigger, younger brother of the 2AZ-FE) swap for that Dual VVT-i feeling. It has ACIS (Acoustic Control Induction System) for optimum torque anytime. VTEC only feels good because it has a kickin point like a Sneaky Pete or the secondaries opening up on a Holley 1050 Dominator.

No haters here. We just like to have a little fun ribbing once in a while.

    08scion,

While I thought it was funny what you said, and I believe that you should always perform research before you ask a question like this on a forum. I don't flame noobs who are just asking questions, and I'd say people were quite nice given the statement made. When I was a super mod on a couple GM forums I used to get after people occasionally for flaming noobs, its nice to see people are more grown up here.

With that said, I too was upset by the inherent smoothness of the VVT-I system. While its great for performance, its so smooth that the feeling is more of a constant pull rather than a good pull followed by a powerful surge to redline. Rest assured that the system does work well and under load there is a nice pull around 4K rpm(on the 07+ motors at least).

I had been looking in to building a dual runner intake manifold, similar to the one my 04 Isuzu DI motor had. With a properly designed dual runner variable intake manifold that takes into account helmholtz resonance, you can increase power in the low range and set the switch over to help maximize top end power.

At the switch over point it would sound and feel similar to the Honda V-Tec engagement on the B series, not quite the load Bawwh! on the K20 or H22 but would definitely be satisfying.

One problem I see would be tuning the PCM for it. The PCM may not like the sudden change in flow rates. Tuning this might not be a problem in the near future with Dezods new Hondata style piggy-back thats in final stages of developement.

The new 2AR-FE, as Navy said has ACIS, which works under a similar concept to my above statement, though the physical operation is different the same result is achieved. You're best bet would be to perform the 2AR-FE swap, unless you know people that could build you a vacuum actuated dual runner intake manifold, then tune the computer for it...

Time to ditch all that and go with the new variable runner, individual TB's like on the F1 Formula racers. Now that is some major control.

It maybe too late to late to post this and i prolly should introduce myself ill do that later though, but the 2 biggest differences between vtec and vvt-i is that vtec is the only variable timing system that actually runs off both the intake and exhaust cams as opposed to the vvt-i which only runs off the intake side and vtec is also the only system that actually switches to a different set of lobes on the cams causing that sudden kick in power.
