I take it that these are 18x 7.5 rims w/ +42mm offset 5x100. They should fit w/o issue.

Could be the wheel well mudguard. Pull the tire and check for rubbing on the frame.

How wide of a wheel you looking at using? For what purpose of these wheels? Is you car lowered? The reason that I am asking those questions because a stock ride height tC running a narrow 16" wheel and a not so tall tire should be able to use a wide variety of wheel offsets without interference.

The stock 17x7 wheel is +45mm offset. I am running an 18x8.5 wheel @ +35mm offset. You are probably looking for a 16x6 wheel so the median offset would be around +45mm, same as the OEM. Being that a majority of steel wheels don't have much of an offset, you should be able to fit most 16x6 wheel and matching tire combos. The Spec tC was offered with 16" steel wheels so you might try looking for a used set there.
