When painting your wheels, do you need a wheel specific paint? Is engine paint okay? What if I use a non-wheel specific paint, but use a whell specific clear coat?

I remember watching an episode on the speed channel about wheels, and there is a paint kit made just for wheels. I also saw where you can have your wheels powder-coated as well. Look around online (google) for a wheel paint kit or see if autozone/advance auto parts has it or can order it for you. Most autoparts stores have an online library to order stuff that they don't normally stock.

Whatever rattle can type of paint that you choose be forewarned that they don't hold up well to wheel cleaners. It's soap and water from there on out.

On my last car I used Dupli-Color wheel paint and it held up great for over a year. Make sure you put a lot of prep into the wheels and use a de greaser before painting them. I used about 4 coats of clear also
naw it won't work.. the paint will come off eventually
