Hey guys. I just installed the TRD lowering springs and front and rear sway bars not my 2011 TC. Everything in the front is perfect, but the back seems to be having some issues. I began to notice a metal on metal "bumping" noise when hitting bigger bumps. I put the car back on the lift and noticed that the rear sway bar is bottoming out on the control arm. You can see where the red paint has scraped away on the sway bar. Any clue why this is? Also it seems the rear end is riding pretty rough (stiff and bouncy) compared to the front. From what I read the car shouldn't be riding like this. And yes I have double checked that all the bolts/ nuts have been tightened a few times now.

Here is a picture with the springs loaded

And here is a picture with them unloaded. You can see where the bar is hitting.

Any ideas would be great. I feel like I need a longer end link so the sway bar will sit higher up off of the control arm.

That pic of the spring loaded doesn't look right. It appears to be out of the upper rest and compressed unevenly. I haven't crawled under any gen 2's, so all I have to go by is your picture. Are you sure the springs are installed correctly?

I also notice a lot of threads on the endlink bolt protruding through the nut. Is there any type of adjustment there?

connman429 hit it on the head of that proverbial nail. Good eye! Your spring looks to be upside down. It is definitely not seated in the upper spring perch properly; a very dangerous condition. Invert and reinstall and your problem should go away. Also, make sure that you have springs for the Gen2 2011-up and not the previous Gen1.

I have already taken the springs off. There is no way they can be installed the other way. They currently fit the top and bottom "boot" perfectly. I do however agree that they look very off.

Hoping someone else with a 2011 TC has pictures with TRD springs on.

Did you buy them from the dealership, or a third party (Ebay or Craigslist?)? Just making sure you got what you paid for. Also, Gen1 TRD parts that I bought came with an installation manual when bought from the dealership.

Also, do you still have your OEM springs? The only difference between the OEM and TRD springs should be the length. The ends should be identical. As I said, we are working with a 2D picture, rather than the 3D object; however, it truly looks like the diameter of the top coil is too narrow. It seems that the top coil should be seated agaist the tabs above it.

I bought them from a Dealer. I did have the manual during the install and everything checked out, I will have to re look at it to make sure it is the right part. I know the invoice and part number said 2011 TC. I would have to agree that the springs do not look right at all. I'll dig up the manual tonight and check it out.

Until then if anyone has the 2011 TRD springs please post a picture of your rears.

So I checked and the box, invoice, and manual all say 2011 Scion TC. Like is said early we took the springs off to see if we could install them the other way and there is no way they would fit. I'm at a loss on this right now. I don't want to keep driving the car this way.

    Anyone have any other suggestions?
