I want to get a body kit for my tC but im worried about two things... one. is it really worth the money put into it and two. how can i protect it from cracking and stuff.... if im spending that kind of money, i wana protect my investment... what can i do to make sure it lasts me a long time. Anything and everything helps... feel free to post pics of your body kits too.

08scion, the tC community generally frowns upon body kits b/c they don't go well with the clean look of the tC (although I really like a couple of the wide bks out there). It would be a better aesthetic and financial choice to go with a simple lip kit instead. They look good on the tC, cost less (or the same), and don't drop the car as far as a body kit does so there is less chance of grounding out.

Oh yeah, if you plan on getting either a kit or lowering, start practicing now. Learn to park OFF of the curb. B/c if you park over a curb with either a kit or springs (or both), you are f*cked.

I'm not big on any bodykits for any vehicle (I dunno I'm a bit of a purist in the exterior department). To answer your questions about body kits

    Get a body kit if:
    - you have extra money lying around
    - you are going for looks more than performance
    - you plan on painting them
    - you have dropped the car a bit
    - you have spent money on tasteful rims and tires
    - you have gotten into an accident and it would be more cost effective to get a body kit than trying to find clean fenders and what not

    Just my two cents...

There are great bodykits out there. I just think it's silly to just get a bodykit without getting it dropped a bit or with new rollers. Looks are subjective but if you're going all out then you should get everything or it's just not going to look appropriate.

It's like women. You know they love their handbags/purses but the look isn't complete until they've gotten all the accessories with it. Another matcing wallet purse inside the handbag, a matching scarf or outfit, sunglasses etc. There's nothing wrong when a woman looks the entire part?

For the ladies I guess the best analogy would be that GQ guy in a suave suit; but he's wearing sneakers with mis matching socks...

    Sorry for the OT...

Thank you guys for the feed back its most appreciated. My issue is that i hit black ice over the winter and hit an embankment... my front bumper looks bad, and is cracked and severly dented, and my rear bumper has been hit a few times, and is also cracked... I figured i might as well capitalize off of this unfortunate circumstance and get a body kit, but i hear more negative. Heres the one i am looking at which is pretty cheap and i plan on rattle canning it myself to save cash. I have the money but the way i look at it, tC's are slow. I mean comon, they are. Unless your bringin in some serious cash and can turbo, S/C and all that jazz its not gona be that fast...quick? yes...fast? nope. So i thought id just make it a little more stylish... check this kit out, and tell me what you think would be my best course of action.... its just whenever i look at my cracked up bumpers, it gets me sick.

Dude, since you asked for my opinion on the kit you linked, I'll give it...

I think it's butt. I have never cared for the "G2" aka "Combat" aka "the one from The Fast and the Furious" kit. But to each his own. If you like it, that's all that matters.

However, I have read on another forum about people having terrible experiences through Andy's Auto Sport. They say the service is terrible, the kits are cheap, and you are lucky if they are CLOSE to fitting. Also, good luck getting a refund if it is a bad/broken kit.

Here is the RS1 lip kit, which most of the tC community agrees is one of the nicest:

Post pics of the bumper so we can see the damage.

As for the body kit debate don't go cheap with it. Rattle can may work depending on your color but do it right the first time. Also a body kit without dropping or flushed rims IMO looks worse than without a body kit. We've seen it a thousand times where the body kit fender is eating the rims. Do it right or don't do it at all.

You can always go the VIP route which is more show. Nothing wrong with it if you ask me because the owners will take the time to make it look right. Tucked fenders, wide rims, lowered car and a nice matching body kit.
