Sorry guys, kinda new here yet, so forgive me in advance, im sure somewhere in this forum this question has been asked..sorry search didn't help...i dont know how to navigate this forum yet..but here goes....

This past wednesday I went and replaced all four of my tires and got an alignment done...everything went gravy to my knowledge until I was told that my axle was torn, in which i think they meant my CV boot....they told me it wasn't that bad yet and if i wanted to replace it i could but as he stated "its not making noises" yet...

the next day as i was driving to work, my car started to act funny, first i heard squeaking in the tires as I was making a right turn and as I hit the free way driving at 60 mph the car started to shake ..........the steering wheel shook horribly and even as i slowed down it shook continuously for a good 30 seconds...I didnt think too much of it although i should have

two days later driving the same speed it happened again...only this time i heard a whoosing sound of some sort coming from my left driver side front wheels...sorry not car suave here so is it my cv boot or my axle?

    please help!!! :(

I personally don't think a CV Boot would cause that shaking your experiencing. I personally feel its the CV Shaft itself. Are you noticing and fluid leaking on the ground or around the seal?

Yes a loose lug nut can cause a vibration. Another possibility is a improperly balanced wheel.

I would look and see if you have any loose lug nuts first, if they are all tight, then I would bring your tC in and have the issue addressed.

I agree highly, you don't need a breakdown in the middle of nowhere. Have them check and make sure the lugs are tight, no lug studs are broken, no wheel weights came off, and the CV Shaft isn't bent or the axle seal isn't leaking. Make sure before you leave out of town that your tire pressure is 32-35 psi.

I would bring in your receipt just in case. If the mistake was completely their fault, then there is no reason why they should charge you.

To be completely honest, the car made no such noise or experienced any shakes and vibrations until after leaving the shop, even with worn tires the car sounded and acted fine, plus i just got my both my wheel bearings replaced two months ago...........

If it didn't act that way prior to you bringing it in, I would take it back and address the issue to the manager, but don't accuse anyone that they screwed up. Let them look the car over and find their own mistakes. If they are trying to take you for a ride being because your a female, I would find another suitable garage.

FYI, I almost bought a turbo kit for my tC today off of Ebay for $900.00, but after further research, I would still need a trans-cooler, upgraded injectors and a tune.

Any turbo system is going to run upwards of $1,500. I mean its not like I can't buy this kit, put in away for a few month until I can come up w/ $300-$400 for 550cc injectors, and $50.00 for a B&M Trans-Cooler. The kicker is my car would be down for at least 2 days to install the turbo, then I'd have to drive to either PTuning which is in VA, or drive to Rochester, NY to Dezod for a tune. A tune would run me probably $500.00 and up, plus the cost of fuel to there and back. A lot of people want to go boost, but once you get into what all is needed for it to work properly, the money adds up very fast. Plus I am not keen on going in debt on a turbo kit.

For the price the guy is asking for that kit and being its only been used for 5mos or so, I would snag it, but I am still waiting for one more W2 to come, then submit my taxes on turbotax, then wait 2-4 weeks for the return to hit my savings account. I could just throw it on a credit card and hope my taxes come back so I can pay off the credit card.

An axle shaft would have to be extremely bent to cause those kind of issues, plus it would not be intermittent. An out-of-balance wheel would also have full-time symptoms. It sounds like something is loose. If I had to guess, I would say either the bearing repack failed, or the technician forgot to tighten something when adjusting your alignment. Drive as little as possible until you get this fixed!!

I would recommend taking it to another shop that performs alignments, then describing the problem to them. Let them know about the previous alignment and the bearing repack. Find out if the problem they find could be due to negligent work from the other shop.

A lot of major tire stores do not use certified mechanics for alignments. Kids out of high school with a two week training course should not be trusted with your alignment. My alignment guy performs an average of one-a-week reworks, just from one tire center!

I still say have the lug nuts checked and torqued, a wheel that is out of balance, or a wheel weight came off. I do have to agree w/ Connman and have the wheel bearings checked as well. IMO, something isn't tight and needs to be tightened. You could even have a bent wheel.
