Getting some 17's and.....

I'm getting some new rims soon and im thinking about going 17's with a low profile tire. Two questions one....wheres the best place to order and best price this site called wheelsnext.com is pretty good, but maybe theres a better one and two....what size do y'all think I should get 17's or 18's?

Navy, I am thinking about lowering my tC. Should i lower it first then see which rims fit, or put the rims on that i really want then not lower it as much?

Right now its just for looks because I still want to break my engine in before i start auto crossing. I was thinking some Konigs would be good because they are light, and still look good.

This is my car before and after Hotchkis springs... and I'm going to go with 17's when I get my (aftermarket) rims too. 17x7.5+45 and 225/45/17 tires





Oh yeah, always remember to get camber kits. I have SPC camber kits for the front and Hotchkis rear camber kits.

18's really do heighten your lowered car, in my opinion. Just to back up your decision of getting 17's VS 18's, here's my friend's tC and it has 17's on it.



I prefer the sporty look, being on a tC = 17" wheels and a thicker profile+wider tire.

I still feel like a newb for tC, despite working on cars for years.

The Scion world is just so different. For casual driving and moderate racing I'd imagine 18's would be too uncomfortable with lowering, and significantly stiffer springs. I imagine you'd be picking up an enormous amount of response from the ground.

Wider wheel base = more grip, or does exceeding 7.5 inches on a tC decrease handling/cornering efficiency in any way?

17x8.5 is the desired size I would want, so I could fit 255's, but I'm not so sure.

Thanks for that pic but it looks like he doesnt have low profile tires on it, is that true

I'd go with 18's. there is a trade off in everything tho. Like with 18's and 40 series tires turn in response will be better because of the shorter sidewall but at the same time road noise will increase because of it and watch out for pot holes!

It's not diameter, it's width!
