Help a noob to be!

    Hi everyone,

    I was just going thru this forum and it seems like it's full of great people and a lot of help. I'm in the market for a new car, and I've basically narrowed it down to the new '11 tC or the 2.5i Impreza hatch.

    I've test driven both and really like them, but I just can't decided - I'm SO torn. Can anyone offer up their biased opinion on one or the other to help my brain figure out which would be better?

    Welcome to the forums! If I had to choose between the two, I would chose the Impreza 2.5i hatch. I don't care for the looks of the 2011 Scion tC's and they are heavy to begin w/ and the compression is higher than the gen 1 tC's. . Subaru's aren't cheap either, but the all-wheel drive is awesome. Have you considered looking into a 2005-2010 Scion tC?

    Thanks for the....unbiased opinion! ;) The problem is that I'm in Canada, and the Scions are available here for the first time ever this year....so getting my hands on an older model is pretty much next to impossible. Outside importing one in from the US, which in the end, probably wouldn't be worth the time or the effort.

    I much prefer the styling of the tC to the impreza, but the AWD is such a good selling feature. I mean, if I could afford the WRX, there'd be no contest, but since I'm looking at the "base" of the Impreza line...it's a little tough for me. Fashion over function I guess. :\ I priced them both out and they are pretty much the same cost-wise...

    I appreciate your honest opinion though..thanks so much :)

    Your more than welcome. I recall a few members that live in Canada were just starting to see the Scion tC's being shipped to the dealerships. I love my tC, but the all-wheel drive feature like you said is a great selling perk. Either way, both cars are great and very reliable. Whatever you do decide to buy I hope we get to see some pics of it on the forums and please keep us posted.
