How long do coilovers last?

    Umm... well... I suppose the title says it all:

    How many miles can I expect to get out of some coilovers?

    That's a good question. I'm not sure and will be watching this thread because I'm curious to how many miles can be exspected of coilovers. I know good quality coilover can be revalved.

    Most aftermarket coilovers are rebuildable. Revalving is not consider rebuilding, but it is recommended that the cores are rebuilt at the same time. I have never owned a set of aftermarket, adjustable coilovers, so I have no idea of their life-to-maintenance span. Environmental effects like temps, humidity, salinity, sand, dirt, corrosion can contributers to life expectancy. The main contributor, though, is driving style and the typess of terrain. Straight, flat, and easy driving will net more mileage out of a set of struts/shocks more than hard cornering or off-roading will. The more exercise, the less the life.

    Did you know that every tC comes with front/rear coilovers already? Of course, they have only one adjustment... remove.

    In all honesty though, under NORMAL and semi-aggressive driving you can expect a GOOD set of coil-overs to last about 50% longer than stock shocks in the stock position. This being said, a good set of coil-overs are built to take punishment and even in a lowered position they can outlast an unmodified suspension. There is no exact mileage but you can expect a set by H&R, KSport, JIC and even some Tien's to outlast ANY suspension with only lowering springs.

    As long as you don't go Dukes of Hazzard on your suspension... it should last longer than you own the car. I had a set on my 2002 Nissan Sentra for roughly 50,000 miles... no problems... just make sure you clean the threads before trying to adjust them up and down. Nothing will **** up the threads more than having dirt in the grease.

    I would agree. As long as they are correctly installed, they should last for the life of the car. I'm not sure about the tC, but other cars usually have a higher failure rate with mounting points giving out... rather then the coilovers themselves.

    Make sure you have your car correctly aligned after installation!
