Afternoon to all of you guys. I've been eye-ballin the site for a while, and as far as I've seen it seems to be the tc forum thats most abundant in good information so here I am :) coming from the xB scene i'm definitely looking forward to being in a more performance orientated car, instead of suspension and sound system.

I currently have not yet purchased my tc, but I cannot yet decide if I want a new 2010 or a used earlier year. my biggest concern is which is easier/the best year to find engine parts for? (rods, pistons, camps, valve springs, etc) and body parts as well, headlights, hoods, etc. I would like to have a new one since it would be nice to be putting the first miles on the car, but if an older year is best for modification, then thats what I'll be picking up.

From my lookin around i'm assuming all tc from 05-10 are the exact same for parts wise, 05 headlights go in a 2010, manifolds are the same, hoods, pistons, etc. If anyone can set me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks much and look forward to being a member of this community.

Yes 05-10 are pretty much the same TC, its considered the same generation model. You are correct, most changes are minor. MAF sensor changed for the 2007 TCs. So engine parts are actually pretty abundant and available for you!

Being a Scion tC owner I would buy one, but keep in mind that the earlier Scion tC's are 9:6.1 compression and the newer ones are 9:8.1 compression. If you looking to go boost going w/ an older tC is your best best, lower compression is better for boost. Plus not to mention that the mods available are pretty much endless, you can make your own statement. I would suggest also getting a warranty, I had my water pump seal let go at 15,000 miles, which was covered by my warranty thank god. A very solid, reliable, and dependable vehicle and good gas mileage to boot.

thanks for the info. and im familiar with the different compressions but when i boost i would get a lower compression piston. but i guess my biggest thing was if i get a 2010 am i gonna get shafted with aftermarket availability? i realize you did say that the mods are pretty much endless, but were you referring to 05-07 for the wonderful availabilty of parts or 05-10 for them? and just referring to when they changed some of the super minor things in 07 like the maf sensor?

I haven't heard of many people w/ newer tC's having any issues modding theirs. I have noticed you have to look around on the web for certain things or call the companies to make sure that certain things fit. I don't believe you'll have too much trouble modding a newer tC compared to the earlier ones. If there is anything your looking for or have any questions, hit me up.
