You just installed one spring out of four?

Or did the spring break and had to be replaced?

Did you make sure the spring was settled completely into the top housing? Did you put in anything upside down and backwards?

Why did you only put one spring on? I'm guessing that since the tC has a fully independent suspension, installing only one spring won't make a difference.

Well I mean I am in the middle of installing all of them but I just thought that maybe I would be able to see a difference once I put the car back down.

Ok so im trippin. I got them all on and it looks good now. But now my girlfriend was driving it home and she said there is a popping noise in the driver rear when she goes over bumps. Any ideas of what that could be?

Any more specifics on the popping? Under acceleration, braking, etc. etc...

It may be coming from the stock struts. Did you replace them with the springs?

The popping happens anytime she goes over a bump. I only replaced the springs.

My advice is to go back over everything and make sure every nut and bolt is tightened to specs. If it's still there, I would look into the struts.

Be sure that reassembled the rear shock strut as per the instructions. Also, check your that your rear sway bar endlinks are properly torqued.

    REASSEMBLY
    1. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER
    (a) Using SST, compress the coil spring.
    SST 09727-30021 (09727-00010, 09727-00021,
    09727-00031)
    NOTICE:
Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage
    SST.
    (b) Install the coil spring to the shock absorber.
    NOTICE:
Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the gap
    of the spring lower seat.
    (c) Install the No. 1 spring bumper LH and suspension
    support LH.
    (d) Set the coil spring insulator upper LH to the spring
    front bracket LH.
    (e) Position the spring front bracket LH with coil spring
insulator upper LH as shown in the illustration.
    HINT:
Place the RH side on the symmetric position to the
    illustration.
    (f) Install the suspension support LH and No. 1 shock
    absorber cushion washer.
    (g) Temporarily tighten a new center nut.
    (h) Remove SST.
    (i) Recheck the direction of the spring bracket.
    (j) Using a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the piston
    rod, tighten the nut.
    Torque: 56 N*m (571 kgf*cm, 41 ft.*lbf)
    2. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER CAP
    (a) Install the cap to the shock absorber.

    INSTALLATION
    1. INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL
    SPRING
    (a) Install the shock absorber with coil spring with the 3
    nuts.
    Torque: 80 N*m (816 kgf*cm, 59 ft.*lbf)
    (b) Temporarily tighten the bolt and nut.
    NOTICE:
When installing the bolt, tighten the bolt
    temporarily with the nut fixed.
    (c) Install the suspension No. 1 arm LH with the 3 bolts.
    Torque: 65 N*m (663 kgf*cm, 48 ft.*lbf)
    (d) Connect the No. 3 parking brake cable with the 2
    bolts.
    Torque: 6.0 N*m (61 kgf*cm, 53 in.*lbf)
    (e) Install the suspension lower brace LH with the 3
    bolts.
    Torque: 64 N*m (653 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf)

SUSPENSION – REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING SP–39
    SP
    2. CONNECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
    (a) Connect the stabilizer link LH with the nut.
    Torque: 44 N*m (449 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
    HINT:
If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 5
mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud.
    3. CONNECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH
    HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
    4. CONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE
    (a) Install the wire bracket and bolt.
    Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
    (b) Connect the skid control sensor connector.
    5. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
    Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
    6. STABILIZE SUSPENSION
    (a) Bounce the vehicle several times to stabilize the
    suspension.
    7. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH
    COIL SPRING
    (a) Fully tighten the bolt and nut.
    Torque: 140 N*m (1,430 kgf*cm, 103 ft.*lbf)
    NOTICE:
    • When installing the bolt, hold the nut in place.
    • Be sure to empty the vehicle when fully
    tightening the bolt and nut.
    8. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
    (a) Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment (see
    page SP-9).
    9. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
    (a) Check ABS speed sensor signal (see page BC-4).

Ok so I took it all back apart last night and checked it and everything seems fine I think I am putting all of the bump stops and stuff back on in order. Do I put all of them back on like they were or do I leave some out since these springs are shorter? I am still getting the clanking noise everytime I go over a bump. It sounds like the shock is moving up and down from not being tight or something but I tightened everything back down. Does anyone have pictures or is there a post that shows pictures of the shock reassembly?

Lowered my car now I have a noise.

Hey everyone, so I installed lowering springs on my girlfriends tc a few days ago and not everytime we go over a bump it is makes a knocking noise like the shock is moving around. I put everything back together just the way it is supposed to be but it is still making the noise. The only thing I can think of is that since this shock is shorter than the stock one it is causing the shock to move around or something. Do I have to remove anything from the stock setup to make it work like the black rubber piece with the metal insert in it? I have that removed on one side ant it isnt making the noise so I'm not sure. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.
