Instead of resting on its laurels Kenny Tran Racing did what it does best—race. With a big NHRA showdown that could decide the season looming at Englishtown in the first week of October, Kenny decided to keep the competitive juices flowing at NOPI’s World Finals. Held at Maryland International Raceway, the Finals is the last drag event of the NDRA season and a mere three weeks ahead of NOPI’s huge NOPI Nationals Motorsports Supershow.

“The weekend was packed with fans coming out to see the NOPI race even in the hot and humid weather conditions. It was something to see,” reports Kenny.

The Q-Power Scion tC rolled off the trailer and laid down an 8.28 at 160 mph. The crew made some quick adjustments to allow for the humidity and Kenny dropped an 8.18 at 174 mph to take the top qualifying spot.

Some late night fine-tuning paid dividends as the Q-Power Scion tC open eliminations with an 8.12 at 176 mph. Kenny kept the ball rolling in the semi-finals with an 8.13 at 177 mph. The finals paired the only two cars to touch the 8s— the Q-Power/Nitto Tires Scion tC and Steve Merman’s ’93 Civic. At the flash of the green Merman cut a nice light but his 8.82 was not enough against Kenny’s 8.12 at 176 mph.

“It was a fantastic win for our team. Our Q-Power Scion tC was on point; I needed to see consistency again to build up momentum before our next race in Englishtown, New Jersey. The 8.12s were really good for the track/weather conditions and the performance of the car and my team will translate into some big numbers at Raceway Park,” stated an optimistic Kenny.

“Thanks to all of our sponsors and suppliers for giving us such great products to use, it shows in our performance and consistency. I need to give a call out to Q Power, Nitto Tires, Scion, Jotech Motorsports, Arias, Pauter Rods, Garrett Turbo, REV, Sparco, NGK Plugs, Skinz, Web Cams, Full Race, Brink Racecraft and V&M Racing as well as special thanks to all the guys at NOPI for putting on such a fun event.”

With two Xpold NHRA Sport Compact events remaining the gap is 43 points, confirming that E-Town is the make or break event of the season. Luckily Kenny Tran Racing will be showing up on a high note.

I wish I knew about this last week... I'm only about 30mins from Englishtown. I would have gone down there last weekend.

Yep. That would have been an excellent opportunity to talk with Kenny. I did not know about the race myself. Check your PM's from me. Important stuff.
