I think everyone can agree that the stock tC handling is on the mediocre side. The body roll is that of a small truck. What can one do to make it better? I know struts sways coilovers. But im tight on money, so coilovers are out of the question. I plan on lowering it, but what are some good inexpensive...not cheap, theres a difference... struts and sways that will make my car handle like an evo without the evo cost. thanks everyone.

"handle like an evo without the evo cost"? There is a reason they cost as much as they do and that's because quality parts cost $$$ lol. The less $ you spend, then less quality (usually).

But to better answer your question, I've heard good things about the Hotchkis sways. I've priced them in the past and they weren't too bad.

alright cool. thank you. I found megan racing lowering springs which are pretty nice. Are they pretty good, and do they sag much?

Hehehe you are going to get it good on this forum for saying those words (Megan Racing). The quick answer is, "None of their products are good." I'd recommend looking into Tein H-tech springs (for a smaller drop, but better performance) or Tein S-tech springs (for a larger drop, mainly aesthetic). Personally, I have the Tein S-techs and I love them!

TRD rear sway ftw. It's relatively inexpensive, and adds a stiffer feel, without any loss in ride quality. I'm very close to purchasing the TRD springs and DC front strut bar.

You could always copy my future setup. Tein H-Tech lowering springs, DC SPORT front strut bar, Greddy rear strut bar, Progress rear sway bar. If you buy the Hotchkis sways, it will include both front and rear. Rear is a relatively easy install. The front requires that you drop the sub-frame which is more of a pita.

i'd suggest the Progress rear sway bar as one of the things at the top of the to do list.
you don't need a front sway bar either..

and a tC will NEVER handle like an evo.

I forgot about the EVO part. Correct, it will never be able to handle that well. Our cars are FWD cars which will make them push alot going into a hard turn. An EVO is AWD. So, if you're halfway through a corner with an EVO and you start to push, all you have to do is give it alittle gas and the rear wheels will kick you out alittle thus making the turn easier. If you hit the gas on our cars halfway through a corner, you will be going into a wall.

    Tein coilovers
    TRD front strut bar
    Ingalls rear strut bar
    Any c-pillar bar
    Progress rear sway
    Dezed or progress rear endlinks
    lightweight rims and sticky tires.

    done.

That's the best you will get.

I JUST GOT MY TRD FRONT STRUT AND TRD SPRINGS!

Happy birthday present from my parents.

I have an appointment to have the springs put on for just $100 on Friday. But I want to put the front strut bar on today! Will there be any problem with doing that? Or should I wait till the new springs are on first?

You can install the strut bar whenever you want. You'll just have to take it off when you go to install your new springs. Or you can just do the two of them together.

look at it this way, if you do it now, it could get screwed up, and will be more hassle for the shop on friday. just wait, its not the end of the world.

    http://www.club-tc.com/forums/suspension-brakes/366-lowering-kit-questions.html

To get 2WD EVO (Lancer Rallyart) handling do the following.
    1. Stay away from Megan products.
    2. Quality front strutbar.
    3. Upgraded rear swaybar.
    4. Quality lowering springs with 1.5"-2.0" drop.
    5. Upgraded stickier tires.
    6. Depending on the age, your OEM struts should be sufficient for street use. You can upgrade to a quality performance strut.

This is all you really need to liven up your tC's ride. For even more suspension performance you can upgrade all of the bushings to the poly-urethane ones in the Energy Suspension's Master Kit. If you plan on track duty for your tC, then an adjustable coil-over set might be your next step. From there, it will be underbody frame bracing (which I haven't developed yet) and/or roll cage to stiffen up the body.

wow, thats a ton of work. Its all a work in progress. What should i do first? I have new tires on there which are pretty good. Should i do a strut in the front and lower it? or should i do the rear strut and lower it first? or something different all together.

alright thanks. can you explain why the rear makes more difference than the front? because the front slides out more than the back, at least when i drive it does. Should i do sways and struts in the back? or just sway first and lower it.

If you do struts you should do them all the way around. I've learned that if you don't drop more than 2" you can keep your stock struts. I can speak form experience that the rear sway alone makes a driveable difference. I'm putting the springs and front strut bar on tomorrow. So I will be able to testify to those mods soon.

    Hotchkis stage 1 tvs

i just ordered my hotchkis stage 1 tvs system with the TRD springs instead of the hotchkis because they do not drop the height as much, thus saving my stock shocks for a bit longer. after researching this extensively i found that for a quick suspension upgrade the hotchkis stage 1 tvs system is a quick and cheap add on for your suspension. the cheapest place i found it was at mcgeorgeparts.com, (do not click on the 08 tC because they have not added any parts for it, click on 07 or before, their all the same)
