Those sound awesome, our very own NavyLife is the master when it comes to the TRD SuperChargers. The carbon fiber mods sound sick as well, if your into carbon fiber, checkout this site:

    SCION - Retro-spec

The CF Gauge Cluster is going on my tC next, once it arrives at my door that is.

The carbon vinyl doesn't appeal to me, plus its not the same thing. Most people who go the carbon vinyl route choose that as the easy way out, I would rather go for the real carbon fiber and get what I am paying for.

I want my tC to look legit, not fake. If your going to spend the money on mods, buy the right stuff the first time around and have it done right....just my 2 cents worth.

I powder coated (PC) myself with a kit from Eastwood.com. I did a rebuild/mod on it before I PC'd it. As you can see from my avatar, I machined (grind) off the mounting boss on the scroll housing for the Intake Manifold, Cast Aluminum TRD bell, as well as, polished the entire unit. I currently have the TRD bell and the tuba hose back on there. That setup (in the avatar) flowed too much air (grams per second) which put the MAF sensor data way outside the expected MAF tables stored in the ECM and beyond the capability of the learned data. Since the scroll housing is a two-piece sand cast, I opted to smooth and polish the inside of the scroll, blend out the mold joints, and bore the charge outlet till it was perfectly round. The entire inside of the scroll and the TRD bell were PC with clear gloss to reduce the amount of friction or the air against the internal surfaces. The internal PC adds a tighter sealing surface for the compressor scroll to the housing which should technically limit the amount of compressor wheel blow-by thus providing for a slight increase in boost for a given pulley speed.

All the bearings were replaced with high speed/load bearings. The idler pulley bearings and the two pulley-side torque shaft bearings where replaced with a higher side-load tolerant, high-speed bearings. The TRD supplied torque shaft bearings fail due to the increased side-load from the inherent design of the torque shaft. I had a cracked outer race on one and a spun internal race on the other. The idler pulley bearings are also inferior. You will replace these atleast once which is why Toyota has them in their parts system.

I am not sure whether your car is '05-'06 or an '07, but I have a fix for belt slip when running a smaller S/C pulley for increasing boost. This is usually a problem with running pulley sizes for 12-15PSI boost. On the '05-'06 kits, TRD utilized two idle pulley arrangement to provide the serpentine belt with more surface area to grab the S/C and prevent any slippage. This worked somewhat fine for the big stock boost (7PSI) pulley but can cause the S/C pulley to slip on a glazed and stretched belt or if the belt is too large. A worn idler pulley adjustment spring can cause the belt to slack. Now, you figure that this arrangement would not slip but it sure does on smaller, higher boost pulleys. It is almost impossible to slip a very tight belt on and if you do, the idler adjustment pulley spring will bottom out. This, in turn, cannot absorb the fluctuations in the in the belt caused by rapid changes in belt speed and loading (alternator, A/C compressor, etc=)

The gear box and compressor bearings are now high-speed ceramic. A custom made Viton compressor housing o-ring was installed in place of the standard rubber one. A fresh gearbox oil seal was installed but later found out that the bearing shop cross-referenced the wrong part number to the correct metric size. 107F+ Texas Summer heat last year (2010) caused the seal to leak enough that I had to have it replaced. That turned out to be a bit more expensive than would be as I was out of state with no tools. Not too much as my buddy Kenny Tran and Jotech helped me out.
