not to stray off topic, but where did you rub? what size wheels do you have? offset?

the clunking could be the springs trrying to seat themselves (a common problem with DIYers, since a basic spring compressor compresses the springs to ine side, throwing them off center when reassembling the strut), a loose upper/lower strut mounting bolt, or a loose top hat nut (i can't remember the correct term for it).

I have a cordless impact gun and i get everything pretty tight, but sometimes that top hat nut is trickey b/c the strut shaft keeps spinning.

also, make sure the bolts to the sway bar are tight.

Where was it rubbing? inner fender? fender lining?

I'd try and get ahold of an impact gun and make sure everything is tightened up, or take it to a shop and have them tighten everything up

it was rubbing on the inner fender and the actual outside fender right under where it curves into the tire...

Wow, you rubbed on both the inner fender and the outer curved part? You must have wide wheels too, aside from the low offset. Thats the 1st time I've heard of that happening. Now you have me worried cuz I bought sportlines and those drop down 2 inches.

Did you ever find the clunking?

Hey Graphite, i have the stock wheels but put the sportlines on a few months ago. I havent hit the bump stops yet and have no rubbing at all. So i think if you have no bigger than 18's you should be ok, With NO wheel gap haha. Good luck

What brand of wheel do you have? If they are Axis then it is +35mm offset.

Yes, the bump stops are the hard rubber "bumbers" that keep your suspension from bottoming out and blowing your struts :D My eibach kit came with some, if not just cut them
