Nitrogen Filled Tires vs. Air Filled Tires

    Yeah, but if you run Nitrogen instead of air, you won't get all of that free water! Actually, unless the tire company is charging your tires with certified Dry Nitrogen (yes, there is such a thing), then small amounts of water is still possibly getting in your wheel assemblies. On Military aircraft that utilize a LOX (Liquid Oxygen Converter), tiny amounts of water vapor and/or droplets can become deadly with freezing and possibly rupturing LOX lines which would most likely lead to a catastrophic explosion. Heated, Dry Nitrogen is utilized to purge empty LOX assemblies and lines of contaminates before servicing with Liquid O2.

    Instead, I am going to run Helium (He) in my wheel assemblies. The lighter than air will reduce unsprung weight and have the added benefit of providing entertainment in the pits! Just kidd'n
