NJ Tint Laws

alright, so we know the tint laws suck (tint rear windows as dark as you want but you cant touch the front driver and passenger side at all in jersey). it's almost not worth it to have front tint at least in the winter. today i was spotted - again - by a nj state trooper (with his feet up on the dash) on the ac expressway. he proceeded to pull out of the median parking lot and methodically drive down the left lane. thanks to unusually heavy traffic, i was able to weave thru the lanes to the next exit and lose the cop. this is ridiculous. it felt like need for speed!

now that i've finished the story, im not quite sure where i was going with it .

I go down the expressway every day, but I do not have tints. I am always in uniform so if I do get pulled over they usually let me go. It helps that I am driving at 6 in the morning which happens to be their shift change.

thats exactly why i wont put tints on my car. i live in north jersey where cops live off giving tickets to kids with tints. i really think that they feel tough when they give kids tickets for tints.

man, im planning to get tints when i get my tc but idk. i live in south jersey. what exactly is your tint percentage?

dude, do yourself a favor, and dont tint your windows. you WILL get tickets for them, and after a while it gets to the point that its not even worth it anymore. my friend had an rsx-s and got pulled over almost every other day for tints. my other friend has a cobalt ss, and he took his front tints off cuz he got tickets. it does look better with tints, but is it really worth if when those nice nj police officers hand you that ticket?

it defintiely depends on the part of jersey you live in and the cop at the time. cuz i've sat at lights next to cops here in Atlantic City, looked them in the eye (if he could see mine!) and haven't been bothered. but the two times i did get pulled over for tint, i was in the middle of nowhere and it was a state cop. other times state cops dont bother me either. i dont get caught doing anything else tho. i dunno.

this will all be moot for me hopefully soon when the wife becomes a cop! im tinting the front windshield too

Yeah but most cops wont bother you for tints. I got my car done in the front from NJ CAR TINTING.COM and IT was only Like 120$ bucks and i have never got a ticket in 6 months.ontiac:

ALSO IF ITS THE SUMMER I WOULD JUST PUT THE WINDOWS HALF WAY DOWN SO THEY KNOW THAT U ARE NOT TRYING TO HIDE ANYTHING. ESP: when driving through diff speed changes and small towns and speed traps
