Offsets!

I'm not entirely sure what an offset is, but i heard it gives a really nice look. can you explain to me what it is and how to go about doing that to my car. thanks.

I believe you are talking about wheel offset, so I am going to reply to this post and then move it to the wheels and tires section.

Ok. Wheel offsets are premade into the wheels before you buy them. It is not something that can be "done". When purchasing a new set of wheels, you need to specify to the seller what offset you would like. Refer to the link in my previous post. If you order too high of an offset, you will rub everytime you go over a bump (mostly if you are lowered).

Not entirely true Red. He can buy wheel spacers and "do" his stockies. ^_^

True. I was looking into them a while back. But seeing as how I will probably always have the fear that they will fail, I steered clear of them.

08, the great thing about Scions is that you can do whatever YOU want to. If you like aluminum wings, then get an aluminum wing. If you want underbody neons/leds, then get underbody neons/leds. If you want to space your wheels out so they are more flush to the fender, then get spacers.

For $200 (for 4), you will get a more clean look and a wider stance. Both things are nice.

Very true. And I'm sure that there are lots of guys out there that are running spacers. I would feel safer with a new set of wheels though.

You should try some aftermarket wheel offsets. I think you will like them.

thats what im afraid of. I HAD to get spacers because of the type of rims I had. I do have spacers in my ride and so far all is good I get it checkd everytime I take it in for an oil change because at the tiem I didnt know what circumstances could happen. I had a thred a while back on spacers and it seriously worries me now but I didnt have an extra 1000-2000 to get new rims so i spent the 200 for spacers. Thing is though i dont race or anything and like i said i HAD to get them. I defineately feel the difference on sharp turns especially on the freeway because i have to drive through a gorge every day and im not going to lie driving at 90 and hitting those turns are FUN!!!

just a quick question without going into any spreadsheet... i currently have stocked rims now.. which is 45 offset.. i saw some rims i like that is 25 offset.. would that be too low? and sticking out too much?
