I believe you are talking about wheel offset, so I am going to reply to this post and then move it to the wheels and tires section.

Here is a good article that explains wheel offset: Wheel Tech - Offset

Alright cool thanks. If anyone has done it to their tC tell me about it. Does it make your handling better? worse? do you like it? not like it? is it hard to do and how do you do it.
Thanks for your help everyone, its most appreciated.

Ok. Wheel offsets are premade into the wheels before you buy them. It is not something that can be "done". When purchasing a new set of wheels, you need to specify to the seller what offset you would like. Refer to the link in my previous post. If you order too high of an offset, you will rub everytime you go over a bump (mostly if you are lowered).

Not entirely true Red. He can buy wheel spacers and "do" his stockies. ^_^

True. I was looking into them a while back. But seeing as how I will probably always have the fear that they will fail, I steered clear of them.

08, the great thing about Scions is that you can do whatever YOU want to. If you like aluminum wings, then get an aluminum wing. If you want underbody neons/leds, then get underbody neons/leds. If you want to space your wheels out so they are more flush to the fender, then get spacers.

For $200 (for 4), you will get a more clean look and a wider stance. Both things are nice.

Very true. And I'm sure that there are lots of guys out there that are running spacers. I would feel safer with a new set of wheels though.

You should try some aftermarket wheel offsets. I think you will like them.

I would steer clear of using wheel spacers, you run the risk of weaking/ruining your wheel studs. Going with the proper off-set will eliminate the use of one. You can ask any wheel manufacurer, they will also tell you not to go w/ a wheel spacer, if you want added strain on your studs or risk of failure/accident, that's all on you, not worth it to me. As mentioned b4, a lowered ride height will affect the off-set as well and rubbing, pending on what wheel is one the car.

thats what im afraid of. I HAD to get spacers because of the type of rims I had. I do have spacers in my ride and so far all is good I get it checkd everytime I take it in for an oil change because at the tiem I didnt know what circumstances could happen. I had a thred a while back on spacers and it seriously worries me now but I didnt have an extra 1000-2000 to get new rims so i spent the 200 for spacers. Thing is though i dont race or anything and like i said i HAD to get them. I defineately feel the difference on sharp turns especially on the freeway because i have to drive through a gorge every day and im not going to lie driving at 90 and hitting those turns are FUN!!!

You are welcome. Offsets are hard to figure out on paper as there can be so many variables like OEM ride height or, if lowered, by how much, etc, etc. Going offline for now.
