A few nights ago, I took the old tC out for a romp around. Ended up tool'n around due to the shear amount of squad cars on the street. While waiting at a redlight (inside lane), a late something model Roush Mustang came up on the outside lane revving his motor. I just sat there but I knew he was baiting me. I took the drop on the green but to keep the red and blue at bay, I did just an easy launch it and held the speed at 20MPH. It also gave the Stang the option to line up for a 20 roll which just so happens to be my kill zone. He made the move. Waiting till he had about a half a car length, still in 2nd gear, I punched it. The speed limit is 45MPH so I shut'er down at 50MPH. By that time I had pulled about a car length on him ending up a half a car length ahead.

If we had continued racing, he might have closed that gap by the time I ended up in 4th gear. I also did some poking around the Roush website and found different trims of Roush Mustangs. There are three entry level stages that are more like appearance packages. The Stage 3 includes some suspension and exhaust (sound) upgrades. There are no engine performance upgrades. I most likely was racing a Stage 2 or 3. The 427R would have ate my tacos.

I usually ignore challenges like this because the roads are crap in the New Orleans area but I was feeling a bit froggy that night. I for sure thought a Roush Mustang would walk all over me. Oh well, so much for appearance packages. :)

There is a guy in the Big D that has a sleeper Mazda Miata with an LS-7 V8 motor in it. Except for the throaty exhaust, it looked stock.

Not mine. I hermetically sealed the interior and fill it full of helium to make it lighter. A cop pulled me over the other day and directed my to step out of the car. He got a little on edge when I crawled over the back seat and exited thru the hatch. He became a bit more unraveled when I answered his question, "Why did you exit out the back when I told you to step out of the car?". In my best Alvin The Chipmunk, I went on to explain, "That is where the airlock is. Duh!".

    :)

A dude pulled next to me at a redlight today eyeing my car over with some interest. His ride was a G35 with an axle-back. We had cars in front of us but he managed to get enough room to romp on it to entice. I soon abliged and we were neck and neck for the fairly short space we had. Finally at the next light, we held back then I let him have it. I just dumped it, spinning tires, and hittn the rev limiter. Slam into second and pulled on him even though I was spinning my tires mostly. Same as the race above, in an all out race from 0-100MPH, I would be ahead till about the bottom of 4th gear, with the G35 being a car length or two at 100MPH. Who knows, it may have worked out to a closer gap as I have not race the car like that since it was a stock TRD S/C @7PSI. A proper tune would give me that high end power band and better grip would let me pull much farther ahead thru 1st and 2nd.
