Scion tC 3 wheelin - Hotchkis sway bars #2 - YouTube

Saw this video clip online, I understand that the sway bar is causing it to not give. However im wondering is this good for the car pulling into a driveway everyday?

When you lower a car with springs, do you have to have a rear sway bars? I understand that the handling is much better. Would the ride be terrible for a DD if there was no rear sway bars?

Just wondering. It looks weird that the wheels dont touch the ground.

This video clip is an extreme case. I have the Hotchkis rear sway bar on the tightest settings, along with adjustable coil-overs (which are much more stiff than OEM springs) and polyeurethane bushings. I've never had a problem with my wheels lifting on me.

In simple terms, your sway bars keep your tires like this: |-|, /-/, or \-\ around a corner, when the laws of physics try to make them do this: /-| or |-\ . Since the relative alignment stays straighter through the turns, it translates to a noticeable reduction of body roll. Now, you could remove your sway bar completely and drive without damaging your car; however, if you start throwing it around corners configured like that, your rear-end will be extremely loose and you will notice increased tire wear on the edges and upper sidewall.

For the tC, you will find upgrading the rear sway bar gives you the best suspension dollar to performance ratio.

Thank you Connman. I am looking forward to lowering my car about 1.2 Front and rear sometime in the near future.

hah best discription I have ever seen with the |-| and /-|. Awesome haha.

I have seen that a lot with lowered honda's and stuff. With coilovers the suspension doesn't drop as far so sometimes it will just lift the rear wheel like that entering or exiting if there is a steep incline like the one in the video. I wouldn't park your car like that lol but it shouldn't damage anything. It just shows how stiff the car is and how stiff the suspension setup is.
