Was racing a 98 civic with some mods yesterday and I hit 137mph. I was surprised how nice it handled as well. Pretty much stock. Just a stage 2 clutchmasters clutch and a light weight fidanza flywheel and a cold air intake. Gunna post some pictures soon of the speedometer.

Did you beat the Civic you were racing? I have raced a couple as well and didn't have any trouble, unless they're boosted then you've got some problems. How did you manage to hit 137MPH, last I checked the gov cuts off around 130MPH? The fastest I've had my tC is 130MPH and that was racing a Nissan 240SX on the highway. I managed to stay right w/ him and pulled on him as well. Did you somehow over-ride your fuel gov?

Yeah I beat it. I let it high rev in 4th and let him pull away a little bit but once I dropped it into 5th I easily pulled away from him. I'm not too sure why the governor didn't kick in. As far as I know no over rides were performed.

Thats awesome man, and way to show a Honda what's up. I have no doubts that your tC hit 137MPH, but when I bought mine back in 2007, I read online that the fuel gov shuts off at 127-130MPH. The only way to exceed it is to over ride it, how that's done IDK. The fastest I've gone in my tC is 120MPH and let me tell you it was still pulling hard.

Here is a link I found that gives all the spec's of the Scion tC as well as the top speed:

I just traded in my 2006 tC automatic for a 2010 tC manual. I hit 125 in both of them and I didn't have enough freeway without cops to push it further lol...i'm running stock too

It may be a glitch or the car was still picking up speed enough to continue the acceleration slightly after the fuel cut-out. I hit 135-137MPH only one time. I don't remember if I had my S/C or not (would have been OEM) but it was before the added drag of my wing and the car was lowered. When the fuel cut-out engaged, I still had positive momentum going down a slight grade with a strong wind at my rear. I have yet not been able to repeat. OEM fuel cut-out is set to engage at 128MPH. A change in tire diameter can cause a deviation read error that increases with speed. This, however, should be repeatable.

Kewl Beans, Man. I caught alot of flack from peeps when I stated this top speed several years ago. Nobody seems to be crying about it anymore. Just love proving flammers wrong. With my new motor being set to redline to 8500 RPM and new management, I hope to get above 150MPH.

Is that just with raising the redline or has 5th gear been replaced with one of a different ratio.

128 MPH is the actual fuel cut. The car is very stable at that speed in OEM form on a straight. Would not be taking curves at that speed though. Top speed w/o any fuel cut should be south of 150MPH.

Rock on! Did you change your tires for a different size? If the diameter of the tire/wheel combo increases, your speed odometer will read a mile or so slower than your actual speed. This is all depending on the change in diameter. Inversely, if you where to put on smaller tire/wheel combo diameter, your speed odometer will read a mile or so faster than your real speed.
