Your welcome bro. I reside in upstate NY (Endicott), 70 miles south of Syracuse. If you need any help with your tC or finding mods, let me know.

Welcome to the Club. Nice, sweet tC to start out with. Say, what is that thing hanging off the back bumper?

I believe those are a rear bumper protector so if someone hits your ride, it won't damage the car. There are other bigger cities I have heard that are using them as well. Lots of crowded streets and careless drivers bumping/backing into other vehicles.

I was afraid that would be the answer. Cadence, remind me never to move to a big city like Chicago or New York. :) I see how it is going to protect nothing more than somebody with a shopping cart. It must ruin the clearcoat like a bra. I think that I would forgo that and just weld spikes from the bumper. Maybe they will think twice. :)

Has anyone, living in those squalid conditions (street parking), thought about a zonal sensor (microwave)? The great thing about these is that they can simply be tapped directly into the horn relay circuit for pwr/gnd/trigger. If you get a dual-zone sensor (recommended), you can add an alarm siren to the secondary output. Cheap and easy alarm or a great addition to the Scion Security System if you have that option. Since you live so close to the street, you could put a silent pager on the secondary output so that you can have the great joy of jamming a 12Ga shotgun in the culprit's face.:eek2:

I had a car with this sensor hooked to the horn and the secondary hooked to the alarm. Nice feature about this sensor is that the primary trigger was 2-step. What that did was to provide a couple of quick chirps from the horn. If you persisted in that external zone or got closer to the car, the horn would continuously sound till you left that zone. With dark tinted windows, you would get the ominous feeling that there was a huge SOB waiting to step out of the car and beat you silly just for looking at the car. It kept thieves at bay and even protected the car from an arse hole from sitting on the hood and another errant woman from backing up into my car. Of course, if you were to somehow get into the car w/o opening the door (thru the window), you had a world of surprises awaiting for you when that internal zone fired the secondary trigger output. :img59::img59:

I thankfully have to say I don't live in a huge city. I do live in town, but its nowhere as big as NYC or Chicago. Plus most people here have enough respect for other peoples vehicles not to hit them, unless their drunk or just plain careless and don't give a hoot. With all the modifications done to my Scion tC, I should seriously invest in an alarm system/keyless entry/remote start. I am deciding between either AutoPage or CrimeStopper.
