Why do my tail lights and dashboard lights only go on when I brake?

I recently replaced one of the burned out tail lights. Then all of a sudden the interior dashboard lights, lighting on my shifter and brake lights do not light up unless I brake.

    Explanations anyone?

I'm not sure how the tC's electrical system is, but you'd have to find out what all runs through the brake light switch, sounds like that may be going bad.

It sounds like my '83 Mercury Capri. It was and still is demon possessed. I am not sure what is going on here, but back in the old days, putting an incorrect bulb in the tail light caused these types of issues. Double check that you have the right bulb and report back on here.
